HISTORIC CAFÉ “KIPOS”

ESTABLISH: 1870

The Historic Cafe “Kipos” has been operating since 1870 as a reference point of the city of Chania. It has always hosted personalities of letters, arts and politics, while for several years it housed the Parliament of the Cretan State (09/12/1898).

Nowadays, it still provides high quality services, but also art events, gastronomic festivals, literary, musical, theatrical & thematic evenings. The Cafe also hosts a rare photographic exhibition with the history of the place, which highlights the culture of the Cretan State. The exhibition is curated by the Head of the Historical Archive of Crete, Zacharenia Simandiraki.
